Tea Making Experience
2 hours · NZD $85 / person · Seasonal
A hands-on seasonal workshop where you pick fresh tea leaves from our garden and learn to process them into your own finished tea. Due to the seasonal nature of tea growth, this experience is only available during harvest periods.
- 1Garden walk and introduction to tea plant varieties
- 2Hand-pick fresh tea leaves from our garden
- 3Learn traditional tea processing — withering, rolling, and oxidation
- The following steps require overnight processing and cannot be completed during the session. Your host will explain the process.
- 4Fire and dry the tea leaves using traditional techniques
- 5Brew and taste finished tea from our garden (we prepare a completed batch for you to taste)
- 6Receive 10g of your own handmade tea, posted to you via NZ Post once fully processed (NZ addresses only)

Not at all! Our experiences are designed for all levels, from complete beginners to seasoned tea enthusiasts. Your host will guide you through every step, ensuring you feel comfortable and engaged throughout the session.
We recommend comfortable, modest clothing in muted colours. Please remove your shoes upon entering the tea room. Since our experiences include a walk through the tea garden, we also recommend wearing comfortable closed-toe shoes suitable for light outdoor walking.
We offer full refunds for cancellations made at least 24 hours before your scheduled session. Cancellations within 24 hours may be rescheduled subject to availability. Please contact us if you have any concerns about your booking.
Yes, we kindly ask all guests to refrain from wearing perfume, cologne, or strongly scented products. The delicate aromas of tea are central to the experience, and strong fragrances can interfere with everyone's enjoyment.
As our tea plants are grown in a natural outdoor environment, you may occasionally see small insects, just like in any garden.
We serve tea only. Our sessions do not include food of any kind, and we do not use dairy products such as milk or cream. We recommend having a light meal beforehand, as tea is best enjoyed on a settled stomach.
You will receive 10g of the tea you made yourself during the experience. Once it's fully processed, we'll post it to you via NZ Post (New Zealand addresses only).
